About HOLD
Hands covered. Stay clean.
Yongsen’s routine
I’m Yongsen, the founder of HOLD. At the gym, I usually wipe down equipment with alcohol before using it. But after handling the cloth, my hands don’t feel clean either, so I want to clean them again. Spraying my hands at every station feels like too much for my skin, and I often end up waiting until the workout is over to wash them. Honestly, I don’t love having to scrub my hands and wait for them to dry before getting on with my day. That routine brought me back to gloves: what if I wore a pair of my own during training, then took them off when I was done?
What we’re working on
I used to wear training gloves to protect my hands. As I became more comfortable with the movements, I gradually stopped wearing them. I work out mainly for my health, rather than to lift as heavy as I can. Over time, I realized that hand hygiene mattered more to me. I wanted a pair I could wear through an everyday workout, then wash and care for myself. Our first HOLD gloves start with full-finger coverage, an unpadded palm, and a machine-washable design—a layer of fabric between my hands and the equipment. This is a starting point. I want to make them fit better, feel steadier, look better, be easier to put on and take off, and have a little more personality. I’ll keep listening to how people wear them, use them, and think they could improve.
